Android v1.0 · in internal testing OCPP 1.6 Stripe Connect FI · SV · EN at launch

Discovery, access, metering, payment, tax. All of it in software.

EV Share Hub handles the whole charging transaction between a driver and a private charger owner — and ships no hardware to do it. We connect to wallboxes that are already installed, over OCPP 1.6, so a host joins in minutes with no installation, no engineer and no device from us.

The driver journey

Walk up, plug in, drive away

The default experience is walk-up, exactly like arriving at a public charging station: no subscription, no minimum, no commitment. Reserved Booking exists for drivers who want a slot held in advance, but it is never required.

1

Find

A live map of nearby private chargers with price and availability, filterable by connector type, speed, price and rating — plus route-based trip planning for longer journeys.

2

Plug in

The payment method is authorised, then the platform releases the charger over OCPP for one driver, for one session. No key handover, no host coordination.

3

Charge

Live kWh delivered and running cost on screen for the length of the session, with in-app messaging to the host if anything needs sorting.

4

Pay

The final amount is calculated from metered energy delivered and captured the instant the session ends. Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Stripe Link.

5

Go

A receipt is issued automatically, the session is added to charging history with its CO₂ saving, and the driver rates the charger.

The host journey

From wallbox to listed, in one sitting

A host with an OCPP-compatible wallbox onboards entirely in-app. Nothing is shipped, nobody visits, and the charger keeps working exactly as it did for personal use.

1 · Register free

Create a host account at no cost. Identity is verified as part of signup, on both sides of the marketplace.

2 · Connect over OCPP

Point an existing wallbox at the platform over OCPP 1.6. No installation, no engineer, no device shipped by EV Share Hub.

3 · Set a price

The host sets the per-kWh price. Guidance is €0.38/kWh — the Finnish median DC rate — shown against live Nord Pool spot cost so the margin is visible.

4 · Get paid

85% of each completed session lands via Stripe Connect the moment it ends, with DAC7 tax reporting filed on the host's behalf.

The host always controls the price. That's not a product preference — it's a requirement of the VAT structure. Because the host sets the price and is named as the seller of the electricity, Finnish VAT applies to EV Share Hub's commission only. It's also why hosts stay: they own their own economics.

Core platform capabilities

The eight things the platform actually does

Everything else in the product is built on top of these.

Capability What it does
Remote session control Authorises and releases the charger for one driver, for one session, over OCPP 1.6.
Metered billing Per-kWh billing on MID-certified chargers, with a telemetry-based assurance method extending accurate billing to the wider installed base.
Instant capture Payment authorised at plug-in and captured the moment the session ends — no separate checkout step.
Availability intelligence Predicts whether a private charger is genuinely free tonight, including for chargers that publish no data of their own.
Spot-price guidance Shows hosts their real marginal cost against hourly Nord Pool FI area prices, so pricing is a margin decision rather than a guess.
Trust and ratings Two-way ratings, verified identity and dispute handling, with ratings feeding search ranking.
Automatic tax reporting DAC7 platform reporting filed for every host under Finnish act 1267/2022.
Languages Finnish, Swedish and English are the launch languages for this market. Finnish and English are live today, alongside Finnish, Russian and Lithuanian from earlier development work; Swedish localisation is in progress ahead of full commercial launch.
Platform architecture

Three layers, and nothing to install

A mobile app on top, a cloud platform in the middle doing session management and settlement, and existing wallboxes at the bottom reached over OCPP 1.6.

EV Share Hub platform architecture Three layers. Top: the mobile app for drivers and hosts, plus the admin control panel. Middle: the EV Share Hub cloud platform, containing session management and settlement, an OCPP 1.6 gateway, the payments and payouts service, the pricing engine, the tax and reporting service, and trust and ratings. Bottom: existing wallboxes from Zaptec, Easee, Wallbox and Go-e, reached over OCPP 1.6. To the side, three external services connect to the cloud platform: Stripe and Stripe Connect for payments and payouts, Nord Pool for hourly Finnish spot prices, and Vero.fi for DAC7 platform reporting. EV Share Hub owns no chargers, ships no hardware, and never resells electricity. The host is named as the seller of the energy; EV Share Hub's regulated activity is the marketplace and booking service.

Compatibility

If it speaks OCPP 1.6, it can be listed

EV Share Hub connects to wallboxes already installed, including the brands most common in Finnish homes and driveways.

Zaptec Easee Wallbox Go-e Any OCPP 1.6 charge point

The primary path: OCPP 1.6

No new hardware, no installer, no site visit. Because Finland's installed wallbox base is already OCPP-mature, this is the route the overwhelming majority of hosts will take — and it's what makes adding supply cost effectively nothing.

The fallback: retrofit smart relay

For older chargers without native OCPP support, the shared platform's retrofit smart-relay module remains available as an alternative onboarding path. It is not the primary route marketed to Finnish hosts.

Payments & payouts

Authorised at plug-in. Captured at unplug.

All payments run through Stripe Connect, a PCI-compliant gateway. EV Share Hub never sees or stores a driver's card details directly.

1

Authorise

At plug-in, the driver's payment method is authorised for the session. The charger is only released once authorisation succeeds.

2

Meter

Energy delivered is metered over OCPP for the length of the session — the number the final charge is calculated from.

3

Capture

On completion, the actual amount is calculated from metered kWh and captured immediately. No manual invoice, no waiting.

4

Split

The 15% commission is deducted at settlement; the remaining 85% is queued for payout to the host via Stripe Connect.

5

Settle

A receipt is issued to the driver automatically, and the host is paid without any manual reconciliation. Disputes go to admin-reviewed claims.

Every payment method drivers expect

Card, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Stripe Link, handled inside the app. No redirect to a separate checkout page and no operator-specific RFID card to carry.

Reserved Booking, when you want it

Optional slot-holding for drivers who need certainty. Priced as a small add-on — survey data showed two-thirds of willing respondents would only accept a fee under €1 — and kept entirely separate from the session commission.

Fleet and business billing

Consolidated billing and a spend dashboard for company vehicles, so a fleet manager sees every driver's charging in one place rather than reconciling individual receipts.

Product status

Built and in testing — not a concept

The Android app (v1.0) covers the full feature set above and is in internal testing. The team has run its own end-to-end test transactions through it: real bookings, payments, incident reports, ratings and host payouts. It has not yet been submitted to the Google Play Store, and there are no public Finnish usage numbers to report.

Done

Platform built, tested end to end

Booking, payment, dispute, rating and payout flow all validated on the team's own test transactions before any public acquisition spend.

Q3 2026 · in progress

Finland validation & 20-charger pilot

Session-assurance research, regulator positions from Tukes and Traficom, host liability insurance secured, and the first 20 Helsinki chargers onboarded.

Q4 2026 · planned

Public launch across the capital region

Open to hosts and drivers in Helsinki, Espoo and Vantaa, with a host referral programme. Swedish localisation completed ahead of full commercial launch.

Year 2

iOS build-out and backend scaling

The first engineer joins as listed chargers grow from 150 toward 700.

Year 3

First market outside Finland

The backend is designed to add new markets as configuration layers rather than parallel rebuilds.

Security & data handling

  • PCI-compliant payment gateway; card details never stored by EV Share Hub
  • Authorisation-then-capture flow, which also limits exposure to card fraud and chargeback abuse
  • Full admin control panel with audit logging on privileged actions
  • Self-hosted AI pricing — no session or host data sent to a third-party AI API
  • GDPR handling covered in the privacy policy

Languages

Five languages are already live in the build. Swedish is the sixth, and completing it is a named milestone ahead of full Finland commercial launch — which makes Finnish, Swedish and English the three launch languages for this market.

  • Finnish Live
  • English Live
  • Finnish Live
  • Russian Live
  • Lithuanian Live
  • Swedish In progress

Finnish, Russian and Lithuanian carry over from earlier development work and stay available — they cost nothing to keep and cover a real slice of the capital region.
